Mt Moriah Baptist church history told from 1916 to 1980s
Mt Moriah in Dewees Wilson County began as prayer meetings in homes in 1916. Ed and wife Dewees donated land for a schoolhouse later used as a church. Rev Everage organized the church in 1935 with 11 members and 4 candidates. The church grew through the 1940s and 1950s, moved to a new building in 1954, and expanded under Rev Green and subsequent pastors through the 1980s with events including a 1978 homecoming and expansion efforts.
