The Holy Trinity Altar Society hosts its annual turkey dinner at the Falls City Community Hall on Sunday with serving starting at 10 30 am. Homemade cakes pies and pastries will be available along with bingo from noon to four. Religious articles will be sold and the public is invited.
The Falls City Volunteer Fire Department will sponsor a turkey shoot on Sunday October 26 at noon at the Falls City baseball field. Shells are furnished and only shotguns are allowed.
Ashley Road Baptist Church in San Antonio hosts a Gospel Jamboree on Saturday October 18 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. about 13 gospel groups perform live with food games and a sausage lunch fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. A live KDRY AM 1100 broadcast and directions are available with a 210 area code contact.
The Bandera Heritage Club hosts its annual quilt show at the Silver Sage Corral 803 Buck Creek Blvd Bandera. The event runs Sunday October 19 from noon to 4 PM with quilts wearable art and cash prizes in multiple categories judged by Doris Patterson a National Quilt Association certified judge. La Grange hosts the first Best Little Art Show in Texas on Saturday October 18 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the Main Street square around the Fayette County Courthouse. More than 25 artisans display metalwork woodwork boots and crafts with local musicians providing entertainment.
The Rotary Club of Kenedy and Tobe Ricks present a country and western gospel jamboree at Kenedy High School Auditorium from 7 to 930 p.m. Saturday October 18 a fundraiser to eradicate polio by 2005. Acts include The Jamboree Band Betty Herd Mary Mensch Richard Garza Ribbon Cane Bluegrass Gospel Group and Bobby Morgan. Admission is 5 at the door children 12 and under free. Public invited.
The Polish Catholic Mission and Polonia lodge invite the public to a Oct 19 event at Our Lady of Sorrows Church 3107 N St Marys St San Antonio. Mass at 11 30 a.m. led by Bishop Thomas Flanagan, with Rev Bill Zadora as homilist. Evening at Polish American Center features dinner dance with Texas Two Step band. Donations 10 adults 3 children. The First Baptist Church of Floresville hosts Clifton Jansky Ministries in concert at The Patio on Third Street. Jansky, 2002 CMA Male Vocalist of the Year and 2001 New Artist of the Year, performs while Grady's Bar-B-Q provides free barbecue to the first 500 attendees starting at 6 p.m.
The South Texas Trail Riders host the Harvey J Tinnell Memorial Play Day Ride from October 17 to 19 at Saddle Tramps and Mule Skinners Inn near Falls City on FM 791 West. Registration Friday with campfire and hamburgers. Saturday a 7 a.m. breakfast, 9 a.m. ride, lunch at Whiteside Ranch, then play day activities and Cowboy Ranch dinner.
