San Antonio imposes Stage I water restrictions
SAWS conservation chief Calvin Finch announces Stage I drought limits effective immediately. No sprinkler watering on weekends, aquifer must stay above 650 feet for 30 days to lift rules. Restrictions include hand or drip watering Saturdays or Sundays, plus weekday schedules by address and prohibitions on washing impervious areas.

SPJST District VII elects new officers in Corpus Christi
Bob Bayer of Floresville and Howard Leshikov of Temple helped install new SPJST District VII officers at the spring meeting in Corpus Christi on March 26. Elected were Liz Bielefeld Melba Novosad Betty House Glen Pruski Frances McDonald and Jerry Sijansky. Lodge 107 Floresville funds a monthly donation and collects used glasses and personal care items for nursing homes and Lions Club.

Gov George W Bush announced Project ChildSafe a five year five million dollar program to supply free child safety locks and firearm safety information to Texas parents. Funded by a grant from the governor s criminal justice division sheriffs and police chiefs statewide will be notified and receive kits to distribute.
