Educational Merit Foundation seeks volunteer host families in Texas for 48 high school students from France Belgium Switzerland Germany Italy and Spain. AAU Track and Field meet at Northside Stadium on June 14 saw Stockdale athletes excel under coach Abel Soto. Bobby Lopez took second in the 200 and 400 meter dashes, Michael Mylonas won the 100 and 200, Drew Soto swept the 100 and 200 with second in the 400, and Joe Bononcini was second in the 800. Crystal Lopez competed in the Intermediate Division and Drew Soto in Youth Division.
Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association honored three area players. Derek Brehm of East Central earned Class 5A, Jason Pfluger of Floresville earned Class 4A, and Todd Pawelek of Falls City earned Class A. Also noted is the Free Spirit Summer Track series at Samuel Clemens Stadium Schertz and a City Championship meet set for July with Stockdale entries Stephen Lerma E J Rodriguez Daniel Tovar and Shay Thurston among those competing in sprint events.
The Wilson County 4-H elections on May 1 chose officers Kristi Latka president Denise Demain district delegate Philip Hoffrichter first vice president Kristin Kruciak second vice president Heather Wehe treasurer Laura Hart secretary and Dustin Demoin reporter. Heather Wehe Laura Hart and Dustin Demoin become voting district council members and may seek district office next year. The group selected an Outstanding 4-H Leader winner to be announced on achievement night with the next meeting planned for August under the new officers.
