La Vernia City Council appointed Lindsey Wheeler as city administrator on June 13 following Yvonne Griffin’s resignation. Wheeler, formerly city secretary, will complete a master’s in public administration this summer. The MDD hired Felicia Carvajal to replace Griffin as executive director.

Wilson County DRC approves several non standard plat variances
The Wilson County Development Review Committee met June 4 from 9 02 to 10 46 a m and approved a non standard plat variance for 17 34 acres at 3978 CR 204 south of Poth to create 13 34 and 4 acre lots both for sale. It also approved a 27 98 acre variance at 3149 CR 132 southwest of Floresville to form 23 98 and 4 acre lots with the smaller to be sold to a renter. The panel also approved the Ol Sarge subdivision replat on CR 403 for five 1 acre tracts and the final platting of Notgrass Flats on CR 329 northeast of Floresville for nine 1 acre tracts plus one 5 485 acre tract and one 4 566 acre tract. La Vernia ISD held a special meeting June 10 from 6 30 to 7 45 pm approving adding Belinda Raindl as an authorized representative to the First Public Lone Star Investment Pool and approving 100 percent construction documents for bond funded campus improvements as presented by Pfluger Architects. Trustees reviewed a FY 2023 24 budget update and draft FY 2024 25 budgets for general child nutrition and debt service funds with a vote anticipated at the June 24 meeting.
