Floresville Proposes Budget With No Tax-Rate Increase
Floresville unveils a $30.54 million proposed fiscal year 2023 24 budget at the June 7 city council meeting and workshop. The plan keeps the current property tax rate at 43.0778 cents per $100, funds seven areas including a general fund and capital projects, and projects a surplus in the current year while predicting modest sales tax changes and a 5 to 7 percent COLA raise for full time employees. Financial advisor Victor Quiroga notes gains in fund balance from negative two years ago to a $1.9 million positive in 2022 and urges continued prudent stewardship. The council must approve the budget by Aug. 31.
