Floresville plans an August vote on home rule after early voting begins July 25 at City Hall. A charter-review commission would study and draft a proposed charter, with 15 seats open for candidates. In 1998 the home-rule effort failed 286 to 316 amid a municipal informational campaign.
Community groups including POTH-KIT Society Catholic Life Branch Knights of Columbus Path 4-H and local fire department organize a cleanup along U S 181 and RM 541 in Path and a downtown plaza clearing plus city park trash pickup. The event begins 8 30 a m with meeting at Path Depot Museum and lunch at Poth City Park pavilion. Public sponsors include America's Fraternal Benefit Societies and Points of Light Foundation. County commissioners impose a rural burn ban and require burn permits from Baker's office at 830 393 7346. Precautions include mowing, creating a fire break, never leaving fires unattended, and using mesh or grate for barrels. Also heard a land owner complain about damage by a paving contractor in Country Acres. Arcol Bujol of Lytle involved.
