Neighbors Foil Burglars In Wilson County
A Rio Alegre Drive resident saw two men unloading a television and other items from a neighbor’s home onto a car, alerted the Wilson County Sheriff's Office, and with another neighbor blocked their escape until deputies arrived. George Brown 31 and René Marroquin 29 of San Antonio were arrested for burglary of a habitation a second degree felony and placed under 15000 dollar bonds each.

Poth Teen Killed in One-Vehicle Crash
A 16 year old Poth High sophomore Garett Michael Skloss died in a one vehicle crash on C R 201 last Wednesday night. He failed to wear a seat belt as his 1974 Chevrolet pickup rolled over near a curve. DPS continues investigation and a student vigil was held Friday May 30 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

Lightning Burn Sparks Tank Farm Near Karnes County Line
A lightning strike hit a seven-tank storage site nine miles south of Stockdale on S H 123 near the Karnes County line. Three tanks and two outbuildings burned. Pegasus Petroleum Corp. of Corpus Christi owns the property. Local fire units evacuated residents within a quarter mile as crews fought the blaze.

Three Nabbed With Dope and Cash in Traffic Stop
In Wilson County near Stockdale a vehicle from Seguin was stopped for speeding nine miles south of town. Gonzalo Liscano, 23, Rudolpho Liscano, 21, and a juvenile were found with 1.5 pounds of marijuana and 10,410 dollars. The men were jailed on state jail felony charges for delivering marijuana. each posted 25,000 bond. The juvenile was placed in Medina County detention.
