Wilson County News Nominated for State Newspaper Media Award

Fire risk may postpone tour at Rancho de las Cabras
National Park Service expects the June 6 tour of Rancho de las Cabras near Floresville to be canceled due to tinder dry grasses and extreme heat. Assistant Superintendent Mary A. Bomar cites hazards from vehicle undercarriages. A public talk will still occur at Floresville River Park at 10 a.m. on June 6, with possible future tours planned weather permitting on July 4 August 1 September 5 and October 3.

Stockdale School District approves gym plans and ED changes
The Stockdale School District held a May 20 special meeting with trustees Johnny Stahl Rick Rutland Tony Malik Salvador Arrabazo Jr Edwin Baker Rodney Wintrek and Jim Cooper present along with Superintendent Freddie McFarland and Assistant Superintendent Vicki Wehmeyer Sharon Scriven administered oath of office to Arrabazo Rutland and Cooper Architect Randy Fromberg proposed gym construction and intermediate building renovations for bid approval which the board approved. The board then accepted the athletic director resignation and reassigned Mike Lynn by unanimous vote and abolished the Athletic Director position. The session included a closed session on land acquisition with no action taken and the meeting adjourned at 8 15 p m.
