Collision on U S 181 injures three in Wilson County
A San Antonio man was cited for driving while intoxicated after a June 29 collision on U S 181 near C R 350. Fred Esparza IV, 32, veered into southbound lanes colliding with Paul Balmos II, 21, and Loriell Yendrey, 22. All were treated and released from Wilson Memorial Hospital.

Founder of Rhythm of the Road band dies in July 4 rollover
Paul Allen Semper 38 owner of the ponies band Rhythm of the Road died when his 1989 GMC Sierra rolled north of Yorktown in DeWitt County on July 4. He was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. Semper survived by wife Lisa Adams and son Christopher Paul. parents Leo and Carlyn Hoefling Semper and sister Christie Kahlich. He studied at Cuero High and earned degrees from Texas A&M and the University of Florida. He helped pioneer laser shows and video projection for the band.
