The Wilson County News will be closed this Saturday January ninth for remodeling. The office reopens Saturday January sixteenth from nine am to three pm, with regular hours Monday through Friday eight am to five pm.
AACOG announces January Market Trail Day events across Bexar Atascosa Medina and Frio counties. The second Saturday activities promote shopping and heritage along the Market Trail and El Camino Real Corridor with events in Hondo Mico Medina Dam and Somerset. The Texas Department of Commerce reports long term effects of JTPA programs. A 52 week follow up shows continued employment and earnings among Title IIA adult participants. Among 20,901 original AFDC recipients, 5,017 applied for training and services.
The Retired Senior Volunteer Program announces a one day bus tour on Thursday April 15. The Kerrville Bus Co. will transport from Plaza Del Rey Shopping Center at 7 a.m. with stops at Frank's Restaurant Schulenberg and lunch in Columbus. Return to Seguin around 7 30 p.m. Cost is 34 per person with refunds offered until February 26. cancellations after that date refund 15.
The Wilson County commissioners final session of 1992 officially accepted Ismaro Izzy Cardenas as assistant agricultural agent under County Agent Charles Pfluger. A Texas A&M graduate, he will focus on 4-H Clubs and stock shows while policies on leave and pay for employees are set. Insurance contracts covering officials and staff remain in place, including liability bonding and workers compensation.
Floresville Volunteer Fire Department hosts the Guadalupe Firemen and Fire Marshal's Association 114th semi annual convention on April 18 drawing several hundred guests.
