Harmony in Wilson County resumes after a four and a half year break. Rehearsals are under Dan Stevens and Jerry Hogue for a joint concert at Wiley Seale Auditorium Floresville on March 16. The group began as church choir members singing secular songs and now numbers about 40. Rehearsals are Sundays at 7 15 p m at First Baptist Church.
The Alamo Area Council of Governments Events Committee will meet Thursday at 6 p.m. in the Floresville library. Communities along the Alamo LaBahia Corridor planning activities for the May 4 event A Cruise Along the Corridor are urged to participate. Groups involved in May 4 activities may send representatives to the meeting.
The filing period runs February 18 to March 20 for Texas municipal races with elections on May 4. Aldermen up for re election in Floresville Poth Lavernia Stockdale St Hedwig Falls City and mayoral races in Stockdale and Falls City. Tim Sturm will not seek re election. Doug John of Adkins wins New Orleans trip at Floresville bridal show with Wilson County News hosting prizes.
A week after a freak wind and hail storm, Floresville and nearby areas report widespread damage. Hundreds lose roofs or have shattered windows, power outages affect 1700 customers, and crews work to restore services. Red Cross aids victims at the Methodist Church with phone help at 393-8053.
