Judge Edward Prado dismissed a $15 million personal injury suit against Wilson County citing pre trial discovery and deposition facts. The plaintiff Apolinar Benavides faces a 20 day appeal window as Judge Martha Schnabel awaits a final decision.
A benefit fund was established at First Gibraltar Bank Floresville for Joey Wiatrek 23 son of Mary Jane Janek Wiatrek and Adrian J. Wiatrek. He was badly burned in an Aug 23 1990 accident and after Brooke Army Medical Center treatment is in therapy at the Rehabilitation Institute. Donations may be sent to the bank.
The Floresville Post Office will accept applications for the Rural Carrier Examination from Feb 11 to Feb 15, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Applications are limited to Area 2 Post Offices including Beeville Elmendorf Falls City Floresville George West Kenedy Pleasanton Runge Three Rivers Yorktown and Nordheim.
Wilson County Judge Martha Schnabel announced changes effective Jan. 1 for the collection station. It will operate Tuesdays Thursdays and Saturdays 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. A $3 minimum charge applies with $5 for a pickup load and $3 per cubic yard for additional loads. No brush tires or commercial dumping accepted. Contact Site Manager Wayne Broadway at 393 6726 for questions.
Trail Boss Chester McDougald announced the Mesquite Trail Drivers Assn Inc observes 25 years as an active group and the 20th Annual Trail Ride from Bastrop to San Antonio. Debbie Barnes serves as queen at 17, a Southside High School junior with a record of academic and FFA achievements. Nine year old Travis Owen, mascot, rides with his pony Tinky for the third straight Bastrop to San Antonio trip.
The San Antonio Livestock Exposition restarts the Old Fashion Fiddlers Contest at the 1991 show with Senior Division on Friday and Junior and Adult Divisions on Saturday. Registration from 12 to 1 p.m. each day, ribbons trophies and prizes awarded. Events sanctioned by Texas Old Time Fiddlers Association. Also notes a part time internship for legislative district students with State Rep. Tom Cate in Austin.
