One Man’s Crusade to Heal Illiteracy in Compton
Rev. Alfreddie Johnson leads World Literacy Crusade, expanding from a church hall to a warehouse with 20 to 40 tutors serving up to 70 students daily in Compton. The program emphasizes self monitoring, dictionaries for unclear words, and hands on projects to build literacy and hope amid high illiteracy and crime rates.
