In observance of New Year’s Day the Wilson County News office closes Jan 1 after Dec 30 open. Deadlines shift: articles Thursday noon, directory ads Wednesday noon, display ads Friday noon, classified ads Friday 5 pm. All county and city offices and Floresville Electric Light and Power close Jan 1. Garbage Gobbler skips Monday route, banks closed Monday as required.
The Floresville City Council voted to side with Stockdale against Floresville in the FELPS fight. FELPS leaders warned that cash problems will halt profit distributions to customer cities starting January 1 1996.
The Floresville leads face a possible end for the Floresville Electric Light and Power System FELPS amid council stalemate over governance and operations. FELPS bonds outstanding were about 3 million at year start 1995 after reductions. Bondholders may demand repayment if the utility collapses forcing Floresville to respond.
