Walking Burns Calories Mile For Mile
Exercise physiologists from Baylor College of Medicine say walking burns 57 percent as many calories as running per mile and offers cardiovascular benefits when done farther and more often. Body weight effort and distance determine calories burned and heart health gains. To estimate calories burned, multiply 0.57 by body weight in pounds and miles walked for walking. 0.75 times body weight and miles for running.
