Wilson County 4-H Officer Training Day Set
The Wilson County 4-H Council holds an Officer Training Day for all county and Junior Officer club officers at the Show Barn Floresville on Saturday Aug 26 from 9 am to noon. Attendees are urged to participate. The council also sponsors a National 4-H Week Poster Contest with a Sept 15 deadline at the Wilson County extension office.

Jenny Bird Wins Hochheim Prairie Insurance Scholarship
Jenny Bird, a 2000 Stockdale High School graduate and child of policyholder Joe Bird, receives Branch 14 scholarship worth 1000 dollars for college education. She plans to study education at Palo Alto College in San Antonio. she is granddaughter of Lela McGuffin and Roberta Bird.

Swine validation deadline for Wilson County shows extended
4 H exhibitors must contact the Wilson County extension office by September 13 to order hog tags and pay eight dollars per hog for validation. Exibitors must provide name, address, phone, and social security numbers. Hogs not validated will be ineligible for county or major shows. Also a cattle handling facilities seminar is planned for September 6 at Falls City Hall with Dr Paschal speaking.

The Poth 4-H Club opens its 2000-01 season with a 6:30 p.m. meeting at Poth City Hall on Sunday August 27. Members will plan the food and nutrition program the Field and Stream Club and the Peanut Festival duties while a Gardening and Horticulture Club will make topiaries at 6 p.m. Bring a tomato cage and a pot for an upside down half fit.
