Jupe family returns to West Texas feed mill legacy

Ervin and Dennis Jupe revive the family feed mill business by acquiring a West Flour Mill division in West Texas. Jupe Mills Lone Oak will serve as central distribution for Jupe Feeds south of Austin with a retail outlet and local brand lines. John Yow oversees operations. Mark Jupe manages the Lone Oak site. the company supports Wilson County FFA and 4 H with a grand opening weekend.

GTE and Contel Agree to Historic Telecommunications Merger

GTE Chairman James L. Johnson and Contel Chairman Charles Wohlstetter sign a definitive merger agreement creating a company valued at about 25 billion dollars. The combined firms will total 18 million access lines and a cellular base near 50 million, with GTE operations spanning 46 states and 41 countries and Contel serving 30 states.
