Cestochowa Homecoming Festival Draws Big Crowd
Cestochowa will host its annual homecoming and church festival on Sunday August 21 drawing visitors from Texas and beyond. Msgr Erwin A Juraschek leads with food booths games and an auction described as beyond all auctions plus new snake handling and safety tips. Vincent Sekula serves as General Chairman with Alois Kolodziej as co chairman. The event runs from 2 PM and features barbecue beef Polish sausage and various activities on the picnic grounds near Highway 123 and FM 3191 close to Wilson and Karnes County lines sixty miles southeast of San Antonio.

St Hedwig Volunteer Fire Department Picnic Plans
The Twenty-Fifth Annual St Hedwig Volunteers Fire Department Picnic is set for Sunday August 21 with an 11 am barbecue beer and country sausage dinner. Free dancing from 2 pm to 8 pm features Midnight Rose and prizes include a Las Vegas trip for two. Proceeds aid rural fire protection and local departments including East Central Lone Oak and New Berlin. Fire Chief Albert Strzelczyk Jr leads the department with strong local volunteer support. St Hedwig lies thirteen miles east of San Antonio on FM 1346 near La Vernia, accessible from Hwy 87.
