Longhorn VFD Consolidates With Stockdale VFD
The Longhorn Volunteer Fire Department will merge with Stockdale VFD to form the Stockdale Longhorn Volunteer Fire Department effective Aug. 5. Stockdale supplies personnel and training while Longhorn’s assets and funds stay with the Longhorn station, and dispatch will reference Stockdale VFD Longhorn Station when needed. The move follows a statewide volunteer firefighter shortage noted by Fire Chief Edwin Baker.
