Falls City approves pump for wastewater plant improvements
Falls City Council OKd purchase of a $23 000 suction pump to drain an effluent pond and rehab its banks. Public Works Supervisor Jeremy Mandel cited a Texas Commission on Environmental Quality citation and state funds from a community development block grant.

County weighs health insurance options in budget talks
Wilson County commissioners moved bid dates for 2013 health insurance after Humana and Hartman Insurance warned quotes before January 1 would be unlikely. The panel extended bidding to Sept 24 with bids due Sept 21 while reviewing prior year losses and possible rate declines. A special meeting was set for Aug 2 to discuss forming ESD No. 3 to provide ambulance service for Stockdale area.
