Will Sherman Lead Ohio Republicans to Victory at Convention
At the Ohio Republican state convention in Columbus on June 6, Senator Sherman faced pressure to accept a gubernatorial nomination but declined. Judge Foraker was nominated by acclimation after Sherman stated he could not run, citing duty to the Ohio legislature and the party. The convention praised Sherman as permanent chairman and endorsed the party platform and administration of Arthur and Gov. Foster.
