Judge Pearson dies. NC chief justice praised

Long time North Carolina jurist Judge Pearson has died after a career spanning 12 years as Superior Court judge, 10 years as Associate Justice, and 20 years as Chief Justice. His death prompts universal regret and tributes to his integrity, independence, and habeas corpus rulings. Funeral in Raleigh with state honors and pallbearers named.
