Fish culture in North Carolina through the 1870s progress
In a Sea World and Fishing Gazette piece, S. G. Worth outlines North Carolina fish culture from 1876 onward. It describes the state Board of Agriculture, shad hatcheries on the Neuse and Albemarle Sound, the Buncombe salmon hatchery, and U.S. and state collaboration. Hatchery facilities at Avoca near Dr. Capehart, equipment, and 16 workers are detailed, along with shipping and distribution to several states, the annual totals and operational notes.
