The Duplin county colored community held its annual picnic on July 31 with an estimated 1500 attendees. Col. Geo L Madison gave an hourlong address on the country’s condition and colored rights, followed by Rev. R H W Leak and others. A Clinton brass band provided music and a large refreshments spread concluded the event.
