Aviator Kiffin Rockwell Killed on Alsace Front
Paris reports the American aviator Kiffin Rockwell of the 103rd American squadron was shot in the head during a dogfight on the Alsace front. He attacked a German Taube alone, was mortally wounded, and died instantly. his body was honored at a military hospital and funeral planned for Monday. Rockwell, a former Tar Heel, had been twice mentioned in admiralty dispatches and awarded the War Cross and a military medal.
