Dr. Asa W. Chamberlain, 63, jailed in Henrico county for the murder of his brother Judge Albert P. Chamberlain, 65, in Goochland county. The body was found in fragments across a Chamberlain farm after a dispute over a debt. Neighbors uncovered the torso and limbs from multiple postholes as authorities investigated. The case has sparked fear of lynching and a coroner ruled death by the doctor, with suspicions centered on a quarrel over funds. The brothers had moved from Iowa to Virginia three years ago.
Dr. B Benjamin Andrews former chancellor emeritus of the University of Nebraska and ex president of Brown University died at Interlochen Florida at 5 this morning. He had served as Brown president from 1889 to 1898 and Nebraska chancellor 1900 to 1908. He was a veteran of the Civil War and helped reconciliation between North and South. His widely delivered Lee lecture was known across the South.
