Lieutenant William P. Monroe of the Second North Carolina Regiment, now on the Mexican border, is named as an officer of the machine gun company. He serves as assistant chief of the Wilmington Fire Department and will remain with the quartermaster duties in the regiment while taking a leadership role in the machine gun unit.
