In Danville Virginia on October 12 Walter Clark a negro who murdered his wife and killed Patrolman McRae during a barricade duel was killed as fire and smoke drove him from a house. Deputy Boisseau and others were wounded. a mob dispersed after the gunfire and the building was destroyed.
