Wilmington May Get Carolina League Franchise
The Carolina League considers expansion with Wilmington as a preferred replacement if Asheville and Charlotte depart. President Bram-Vertes of Durham notes Wilmington would be offered a franchise if a vacancy arises, while Rocky Mount may swap with Charlotte or Asheville. The circuit aims to reduce travel and boost dividends, with Wilmington’s first season seen as promising for local publicity and economic return.
