Landrum Preaches at Meredith College Commencement
Special to The Dispatch Raleigh North Carolina Meredith College with 28 seniors began commencement activities as Rev. Dr. W. W. Landrum of Louisville preached the baccalaureate sermon at the Baptist Tabernacle. Music pleased Raleigh crowds as the college mourned the absence of Professor Albert Mildenberg. Plattsburg training camp notices listed dozens of seniors and other students set to report, with numerous names including Cyrus Black Jr. and many others from towns like Greensboro Durham and Charlotte. Lieutenant Roy Homewood, a former star end, leads the story of athletic alumni joining military service alongside S. L. Homewood who captained the State College team.
