Tick Eradication in North Carolina to Continue
Major W A Graham, Commissioner of Agriculture, will direct continued tick eradication across the state. The Craven county petition to halt the work has not been received, and officials state stopping the program would harm state and national interests. The National government funds this effort, with the state contributing a smaller share, and ticks are described as a pest with no benefits to the public.

Rabid dog outbreak blamed on lax muzzling ordinance
Health officer Dr. R B Slocum cites police failure to enforce the muzzling rule for unrestrained dogs from October 4 to November 15 last year as fueling a hydrophobia surge among city dogs. The incident led to bites, including Mary Y Williams, and extra costs for treatment. The board of health had enacted the amended muzzling period in September, with extension possible if needed, and warned results depend on compliance.
