Officers nearby were killed during bombardment of a Belgian position as British and Allied forces press the front. General Haig orders no rest for the enemy as counterattacks falter and General Pershing is reported in the vicinity.
The 14 month old son of banker J Hollaway Keet was found dead in a well at the Crenshaw farm eight miles southwest of Springfield Missouri. Investigators said the body had been in the old well two or three days and was wrapped in a woman's undershirt. A search of the farm followed alleged statements by suspects but yielded no clues about kidnappers.
London reports Foreign Secretary Balfour arrived by sea and immediately left for London after a secrecy shrouded trip to the United States. Washington officials express relief at the safety of his return and note voluntary censorship kept his movements undisclosed.

Paris June 9 After a two day session Admiral Lasaze faced criticism over merchant marine losses and submarine warfare measures. The Chamber of Deputies approved the government by 310 to 178 with Premier Ribot defending the action and noting requests for more credits to counter the new form of warfare.
