Storebreakers Elude Nets as Wagons Beaten Nights
Widespread thefts plague Market Street deliveries as baskets from grocery wagons are stolen every Saturday night. A driver recounts two stolen delivery orders leading to misdelivered goods and cash collection. Police report numerous robberies, break-ins at homes and stores, with little evidence or suspects found to date. The spree mirrors last year’s surge as officers intensify patrols to curb the activity.

Funds Shortage Delays Flour Substitutes Forms for Farmers
County food administrator J G McCormick reports a State Food Administration funds shortfall to provide printed forms for retailers selling flour to farmers using cereal substitutes. The proposed typewritten form would certify production and consumption of substitutes at least equal to flour used. The state order allows farmers to buy 48 pounds of flour without substitutes if they sign the certificate. Merchants should preserve these certificates to balance against future flour purchases.
