City Considers New Independent Water Discharge Pipe

Ar. John H. Sweeney asks City Council to add a 2 090 000 to 2 000 000 gallon per day independent discharge pipe to the water plant to boost capacity from the sedimentation basins to the filters. The present ten inch pipe limits flow, with best current capacity about 3 250 000 gallons daily. a new line could enable the full 4 000 000 gallon daily rating. Sweeney notes sedimentation basins must run in tandem for efficiency, and that demand rises with summer usage. Officials discuss timing, reservoir levels, and the need to curb water waste as connections lost to nonpayment reduce revenue.
