The ship sailed from New York July 12 with eleven missionaries aboard.

Evidence ready for presentation to the Federal grand jury in the cases of Louis I Cherry and Dr Samuel J Bernfeld two members of Exemption Board 99 removed from office by President Wilson following a Justice Department investigation. Kalman Gruber the alleged exemption blank distributing agent also to be heard. All prisoners remain in the Tombs after failed bail efforts.
The Campana, a Standard Oil American tanker, was sunk on August 6 about 143 miles west of Ile de Re. Forty seven survivors landed safely. the Navy reports the captain and four naval guards are believed captive on the submarine.
