Sensation sprung in the House today as a Republican congressman claimed Germany intended to attack the United States all along the border. The report cites a German schooner landing supplies and officers for Villa, signaling plans to strike.
Dr. Edward A. Alderman president of the University of Virginia arrives from Charlottesville to deliver the cen tennial address at the First Presbyterian church this evening. He will speak on Patriotism and Democracy and is hailed as a leading American educator and eloquent orator cherished by Wilmington and the state.
Relief ships were sunk with several others loss reported in the same engagement. The event underscores peril at sea and the high cost of relief missions. No voting is permitted before 9 o'clock tonight.

Mrs Elizabeth A Burriss died at home this morning at 9 40 o clock aged 66 at 212 Queen Street She leaves two daughters Mrs J J Franks and Mrs J F Hart and three sons L J Burriss of New York J J Burriss of Baltimore and J E Burriss of this city The funeral is at the residence tomorrow at 10 30 am with interment in Belleville cemetery

Col Fred A Olds and Captain John W Harper arranged it to give practical knowledge to the children. The demonstration taught life preserver use and emergency drills by the Seminole crew and four young sailors. The Wilmington has completed spring overhaul and passed full inspection, ready for the season. Hoped to Obtain Vote on War Resolution Before Night.
