The Boys High School Alumni held its annual reunion at Clayton House, with about five hundred attendees including Prof. J. Willey, Henry Conrad, W. H. Purnell, and D. W. Harlan. The Brandywine River at low tide has a narrow channel hindering small boats and the stream below the bridge is shallower each year. If dirt buildup continues, tugs and barges cannot ascend to the mills even at high tide. Dredging a short stretch is suggested.
At the twenty seventh annual election held last evening officers were chosen for the St Peters Beneficial Society. James Monaghan was named President with Lawrence Messick as Vice President and Edward D. Higgins as Secretary. John P. Lyon was elected Treasurer and Michael Hare Messenger. B. P. Hassan became Marshal and the Investigating Committee includes John Splane P. McKinney and J. J. Smith.

Captain David Evans, age 65, reeled in a large sea turtle off Hail Point in the Chester River on a Saturday while fishing for perch. The turtle, weighing at least 150 pounds, was hauled in with a small hand line in three fathoms of water aboard a canoe.
An unknown man was killed near Eden station on the Eastern Shore Railroad. He likely was drunk and had lain on a small bridge over a creek when a sleuth confronted him. Money has been deposited with the Importers and Traders Bank of New York to pay July interest on Alabama State bonds, about one third held by Alabamians.
Gen Hancock received calls from about fifty persons including Gen W B Franklin and Senator Wallace. Mayor Cooper visited in the evening. He oversees seventy five posts arsenal or ordnance stations and requires heavy labor by himself and staff. He asked Mr Hayes to relieve him from further duty in the Warren Court of Inquiry. A letter regretting his absence at today’s police parade was read at the Police Board meeting. The force will form on the Battery at 8 A.M. and be reviewed in Union Square about 9:30.
The American rifle team dominated the Dollymount competition winning on their opponents ground. Across distances of 800 900 and 1000 yards the Americans posted 486 486 420 while the Irish scored 486 438 417. Our team won by 11 points.
Naval cadets from the academy at Annapolis Md are in town today visiting machine shops. They came from Edgemoor on a special train at 9 o clock. The steamer is lying off Edgemoor and cannot come up the Christiana. During their cruise they will visit all the principal sea board cities.

Faithful Greetbackers in Wilmington held a meeting and formed committees for a mass meeting and convention to nominate a Greenback Electoral and Congressional ticket. A July event is noted with a house closing in the city and special passenger trains scheduled for Wilmington. West Church Sunday School plans an excursion to Brandywine Springs and Home inmates will visit Mt. iu.
Carl Sanquist arrived in Wilmington from Sweden to settle here. He traveled aboard the British Crown from Liverpool, a fourteen day voyage with about four hundred passengers aboard. One man died during the voyage and was buried at sea.
