Memorial service to be held this afternoon at Asbury M. E. Church for Willie Vickers who drowned in the Christiana last Saturday evening and remains unrecovered. Services will be led by Rev. J A Bs Wilson pastor of the church.
At Smyrna on Thursday Bicey a cantata titled The Coronation of the Rose was presented in the Town Hall under Miss Marian Jones. The sixty child chorus rendered the piece well despite heat. The hall was crowded. Rev. J H Caldwell will speak to Wilmington boys at the Opera House tomorrow at four. Lower floor reserved for boys. adults may attend from the gallery. Good music anticipated.
Sunday schools from Old Swedes Church and Trinity Chapel rode a special train to Mt Cuba this morning leaving Delaware Western depot shortly after 9. A large crowd joined the excursion, highlighting strong participation from the churches in the event.
Prof. 8. K. Murdoch of Philadelphia will teach elocution and reading at Rugby Academy next winter. Dr. Murphy has secured the services of this distinguished elocutionist for the season.
Absence of Rev. J. B Mann at Union M E Church leads to Rev Caldwell of St Ma s preaching tomorrow morning and Ste J M Williams supplying in the evening.

The New York Sun published Hewitt's two column reply to Henry Watterson's charges. Hewitt denies that Mr Tilden disapproved of the electoral bill or spoke to him about it before March 4 1877. He says the bill was drafted by a Senate committee and passed with broad support. Hewitt recounts Tilden's objections to judging by lot and his preference for delay, and defends his own handling of the issue against Watterson's accusations.
