John W. Crossley of 218 W. Second Street was badly cut when a pole swing failed and he fell hard at Bombay Hook during a Reybold excursion. He suffered a deep nose gash and chin cut with bruising head to foot. He was rushed to New Castle for surgical aid and returned home. He improved by morning. injuries not serious.
Democratic ratification meeting postponed to next Friday after a Jefferson and Excelsior Club committee met to invite Senator Bayard and secure his address. Cleveland June 25 1880 Mr H B Payne told a reporter Hancock’s nomination is strong and will be elected He says the ticket unites factions and is acceptable to the Democrats He notes no clear reasons for Hancock’s nomination beyond popular support and that the convention believed he was the most available man for the post.
The Wilmington Auxiliary of the Foreign Missionary Society holds its regular quarterly meeting tomorrow at 4 PM in Grace Church chapel. Ladies of all M. E. Churches are invited to attend.
