Hayes Unpopular for Presidency Amid South Support Doubt

A Baton Rouge dispatch to the Picayune reports strong South-sympathy doubts about Governor Hayes. It notes his lack of notable legislative acts, weak public appeal, and alignment with Grant-era corruption.
