Unprovoked assault on white man by Bailey at Tatnall

Alonzo Bailey, colored, drank and attacked James H. Peters on Tatnall street above Fifth last evening. Bailey grabbed Peters by the throat and struck him, blood flowing from both, until police pursued Bailey who fled to Eighth Street. A warrant was issued for Bailey’s arrest.

Corner Stone Layed for Swedish Mission Chapel

Yesterday afternoon Bishop Andrews led the laying of the corner stone for the new Swedish Mission Chapel of the M E Church on Eleventh Street near the P W B Railroad. Prominent pastors and citizens attended, with Carlson and Captain Kelley driving fundraising to about 750 dollars on hand to proceed without debt.

Four murderers hanged in Arkansas railroad terror case

Four men linked to a train robber gang were hanged in Clarkeville Johnson county Arkansas after a long pursuit across the Boston Mountains. They had killed a conductor during a March robbery on the Little Rock Fort Smith line and hid in a cave until bloodhounds tracked them down. The executions drew a large crowd as the band was finally eliminated.
