Lumber of B L Tatnall Sold at Public Sale
The sale of the personal property of H L Tatnall Co lumber merchants at Market Street foot began at 10 this morning. George Drake, after reading sale conditions, sold the lease on the property to Earnest Smith until March 25, 184 for $1. The sale featured many items including refrigerators, cyprus shingles, ash boards, chestnut posts, oak posts, pine pickets, boards and posts. Purchases ranged up to $25 per thousand feet and $21 per hundred for long posts. The auction continued through the day, with most lots bought by high bidders. Today’s City Court had Frank Chettey arrested and fined 50 cents for suspected charges.
