Hon James A Bayard dies at his residence at Ninth and Market streets in the city about one o'clock Sunday morning at the age of eighty eight. He had been frail for years and suffered from a lung throat condition. His funeral is set for Tuesday at five and interment at Old Swedes church burying ground. Runaway Percheon horses owned by Joseph Stoeckle of Diamond State brewery bolted from the saloon front on Fifth Street near Market and King, turning toward Fourth. The ice wagon was struck as the horses halted and a small child was knocked from a coach but suffered only minor scratches. The incident occurred after a parent briefly left the coach as it rolled backward on a decline near the curb.
