Foot Amputated After Train Accident
Walter Thomas a colored nine year old living on Seventh street near Jackson and Sharp Co. works lost his right foot when a wheel passed over the heel while hanging on a car attached to a freight train at 4 40 yesterday afternoon. Special officer Lege, Dr. Kane, and Dr. Springer aided at the scene and at the Almshouse where the foot was amputated above the ankle.
