Cathedral of Cologne and the Unknown Architect
A legend from the medieval era tells how an unnamed Cologne architect sought to surpass all cathedrals. A mysterious old man taunts him, a demon offers a wondrous plan in exchange for his soul, and a relic priest intervenes. The plan is never revealed, Cologne’s cathedral remains unfinished, and the architect’s name is lost to history.
