From New Mgrico dated May 24 reports a devastating raid on Copper Creek in the Mogollon range leaving twenty-seven dead plus twelve sheep herders. A thousand sheep scattered, livestock killed, and horses and cattle found shot. Capt. Purington noted Gen Hatch’s forces active. many animals died. Victoria warned of moving toward Mexico, with Gen Wilcox requested for sixty days. A westbound coach near San Simon faced highwaymen. Antonio Chaves killed, driver Henry shot in the leg. no clues to attackers.
The Protestant Episcopal Church Convocation of the Diocese of Delaware met in Laurel Sussex county with Bishop Lee consecrating St Andrew's at Ellis Grove.
