City Council Faces Overdraft and Resignations at Meeting
At last night's City Council, an overdraft of 8 520 48 was reported as the bank balance. Chief Engineer Conwell announced resignations and a shift in Water Department payrolls while votes upheld or rejected auditor actions. New inspectors and an election of a Chief Engineer were set, and several street, sewer, and paving requests were approved or deferred.

Philadelphia Athletics Triumph and Cleveland Wins Again
Yesterday's contests featured a close Philadelphia Athletics game at Recreation Park with multiple lead changes as Ferguson connected on a two-bagger and a single, while Chicago and Cincinnati also clashed in a high spirited display. In Providence Cleveland edged Providence 5 to 0 as McCormick incurred a fine after back talk and obstructed base runners, amid threatening weather that kept attendance low.
