The Daily Gazette describes a Christmas market scene with crowded stalls, varied goods, and price changes. It notes the city’s holiday bustle from Ninth to Will streets, the Lucksters display, and farmers selling poultry, ducks, and eggs, plus plans for a Phoenix Association ball and police arrangements for the holiday period.

Also present is Price’s larger forthcoming work and another landscape in Ball & Anderson window titled The Parting Day. The Orphans Fair, under Catholic churches, opens at Institute Hall with items to be raffled including gold, watches, china, paintings, carpets, furniture, and various goods. No Way freight trains will run tomorrow. three through trains on P., W. & B.R.R. and one on the Delaware Railroad will operate with specified departures and arrivals.
The Orphans Fair for Catholic orphans benefits opens tomorrow afternoon at Institute Hall and continues until further notice. Each church will have a table. attendance is expected to be large. Read Russell and Spencer's ad today for silk handkerchiefs and other items.

The gathering highlights a fusionist legislature and renewed calls for unity as Maine moves toward organizing a new state government amid partisan tensions and anticipated further meetings statewide.
The Farmers Association of New Castle County plans a meeting on Saturday week at the Ti Building corner Third and Market. Officers for the next year will be elected and other business addressed. Also notes on forecast dull weather and a new West Jersey ferryboat Arc tic to leave Herlande Hollingsworth yard for salt deliveries.
