A Tuesday morning rye accident near Atul Pia Om injured and killed crowd members crossing tracks. The Philadelphia, Wilmington and Baltimore Railroad Company held authority over the route. tension rose over potential parallel lines to Philadelphia. The tug Meteor owned by Chas Warner & Co and George W. Bush and used for towing Philadelphia packets has been sold to the United States of Colombia. The contracting party is the government financial agent in New York. Terms are private. The tug was built by Pusey & Jones Company of this city last year.
The Higgins Club a negro political group that aided the last campaign plans a permanent organization and will host a supper at National Ball Ninth and Walnut streets this evening. Committees canvass for donations for the festive occasion. Earlier, Oliver H Parry's hotel hosted a pleasant party with Wilmington fans, Brandywine Hundred provided music and dancing late. As attendees departed, several incidents occurred injuring two people from Wilmington and Brandywine Banks, with two inns broken en route.
The Kennebec Ice Company used a large four horse sleigh yesterday afternoon to take nearly fifty children from St. Peter's orphan asylum sleighing. They were warmly wrapped and enjoyed the ride on the smooth snow. Councilman Lewis Paynter of the Fourth Ward began a two week visit to Lexington Kentucky to see his daughter who has been visiting there.
